Movies Need Rules!

How often do we see movies bend the rules of different subjects in their favour in order to suit the script......ALWAYS.....well this has to stop!

Case Study 1: Vampires (Twilight)

Can they only come out at night? Do they need human blood to survive? Cant they only be killed with a steak through the heart?
Twilight bends these rules more than Buddy Franklin bending one from the boundry on the run. If Twilight were to the rules, Bella would have been dead in scene 1 act 1. Also the Cullans should be much weaker than any other vampire as they are not getting the energy that human blood can give. And vampires and wolves? Cmon! The wolves are happy for the cullans to kill any animal they like, just not humans (What the Face!). And if sun hits them the shine! He went to FLORIDA!!!!

I have only seen the first ep of True Blood so I will reserve my comments on this blog.

Case Study 2: Time Travel (Terminator)

Big ups to Back to the Future for being as accurate as you can when it comes to time travel. Unfortunately the Terminator movies are less strict than Cory Worthingtons Parents. Firstly you cant send back anything metal so they put skin on the terminator, (yeah that would work), Secondly they have travelled back in time now 3 times, yet not one of the stories actually matches up! 2 follows 1 however 3 and Salvation are all over the show. Now regardless of director changes and all that jazz lets just get organised people, the first 20 mins of the movie should specify the rules of time travel and stick to it. And if they can time travel they should go back to the time of casting and NOT give the role to Christian Bale!!! OH YEAH I WENT THERE!

Case Study 3: Nerdy guy gets Hot Girl

No rules on this one, more chance of Lional Messi winning a World Cup than this......OH yeah I went there!!!

Case Study 4: Cop Movies

Why does the guy (and or girl) who is on their last legs within the 'force' always get the toughest case! There is always a scene....'if you stuff this up its ya badge'.......put one of your best men on it.......so the Rule on this one........Give the big cases to your best cops!

Case Study 5: Never Negotiate with Terrorists (Hostage Movies)

Then why pick up the phone and try to talk them down, they are happy to lose 100 no name cops to save 3 hostiges.......just sacrifice the 3 and be done with it!!! Movies are always so worried about saving the 1 person that they put whole cities at risk. Also who pays the claims for all the cars that get banged into, I think there should be notes left on the cars with rego details and a contact number, they are the real victims!!! OH YEAH I WENT THERE - Fitzy

One Dimensinal Denzel!

Every now and then an actor comes along and you think, wow this person could really impact and lift the standards of actors in Hollywood. My first memory of Denzel Washington came in Philidelphia, a great movie where Denzen should really thank Tom Hanks for making this movie what it is today, One of the all time greats. Unfortunately I didnt get to experience Malcom X nor can I relate to the movie so unfortunatley I cant count that movie in my assessment of Washingtons career (which I believe he was very good in).

Next up was Fallen, a movie that I personally love, and put Denzel on my radar, I saw this movie recently and it still holds up as a decent movie, however there was something lacking. Following that I saw a run of movies including Pellican Brief, He got game, Bone Collector, Remember the titans and Training Day. The more I watched the more his career started to make sense. Denzel is great at playing......well Denzel!!

Wait for it......Wait for it.......

Denzel makes my list of Top 5 most OVERATED actors of all time. He has made great movie choices however he has been upstaged on every occassion. He struggled to hold his own against Tom Hanks, a young Angelina carried the Bone Collector, a devil spirit showed him up in Fallen and the group of young teens along with the story line were memorable in the titans. He has stayed one dimensional in his roles, failing to captivate the audiences with his performances. His Academy Award for training day was the worst decision in history, especially with Sean Penn (I am Sam) and Rusty Crowe (A Beautiful Mind) among the nominations! Whilst his movies are entertaining its purely for the people around him, be it the directors, screen writers and his cast, on his own he is dull and typecast to the point where his performances are mundane and boring. Wait let me guess, for his next movie he will be struggling everyday person who just happens to save the world.....give me a break.........or he will play another cop who at the start of the movie struggles but then turns into a GOAT.......WTF!

Do us all a favour Denzel and retire already you boring D-Wad! Oh Yeah...I Went There! - by Fitzy
